George Homer Thatcher, Jr. of Belmont passed away May 22, 2022, after a short battle with ALS. George was born in Flushing on Jan 18, 1951, the son of the late George Thatcher, Sr. and Minnie Pollard. George was an Army veteran and retired from working with heavy machinery. He loved gemstone hunting, welding, and was the main handyman everyone called to fix anything and everything. He enjoyed spending time with his family at gatherings and holidays.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Betty (Fulton) Thatcher; a son, Ryan "Scott" Thatcher; siblings, Nancy (Mike) Whitlatch, Donna (Dan) Smith, Vickie (Russell) Westfall, Michael (Jackie) Thatcher, Rick (Judy) Thatcher and Jimmy Thatcher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Rhodes.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 N. Main St, Bethesda, Oh 43719 on Thursday, May 26, 1-3pm and 5-7pm. The funeral service will be Fri, May 27 at 11am, burial to follow at Belmont Cemetery.
