Joycelyn Jean Sadowski, 86, of Bellaire, passed away, Monday, May 9, 2022, in East Ohio Regional Hospital. She was born on August 2, 1935, in Bellaire a daughter of the late Raymond Somerville and Eleanor (Roscoe) Halstead. Joy retired after 26 years of service as a secretary from Bellaire City Schools, was active for many years with the Forest Hills Community Center; and a former Cub Scout Leader. She also volunteered as a chaperone for the Bellaire High School Thespian Club bus trip to New York City Broadway Shows. Joy also was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and working cross word puzzles. She loved her family, her town, her Scottish heritage, and Scottish Terriers. Joy was always willing to lend a hand to the community she loved when it was in need.
Joy is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald Dale Sadowski; two sons, Michael (Francine) Sadowski and Jon Patrick Sadowski; a sister, Mary Kay (Sam) Hanasky; three grandchildren, Ryan Sadowski, Alyssa (Dan) Daley and Aaron (Paige) Sadowski and three great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Somerville and mother and stepfather, Eleanor, and Clyde Halstead.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, with Reverend James Hoff officiating. Inurnment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside.
