Sherman Lyons Jr., 79, of Martins Ferry, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022, in Cumberland Point. He was born on February 26, 1943, in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Sherman and Agnes (Beech) Lyons Sr. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry, served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Sherman loved the Utah National Parks, L.A. Dodgers and listening to music.
He is survived by his three stepdaughters, Lisa Scott, Rachel (James) Roth and Kathy Howell; a sister, Phyllis Pritt; step-grandchildren, Cameron, and Logan Smith; nieces, Ramona Gaughan, Rose Baker, Rebecca Cornell, and Jessica DiDomenicus; nephews, Paul Baker, Jeff Richie, and Chuck Lyons; and several great nieces and nephews.
Sherman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha (Payton) Lyons; two sisters, Alice Lyons, and Marie Banks; a brother, David Lyons; a niece, Victoria Richie; a nephew, Jimmy Baker; and a great nephew, Issac DeGenova.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 am in the Funeral Home with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
